Lydia Datsa
Background
Lydia Datsa (MPA, BSc, HND) is an experienced social scientist and research administrator. She obtained her Masters in Public Administration from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi (2022), her Bachelors in Management Education from the University of Education, Winneba (2014) and her Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the now Cape Coast Technical University (2009) and a Diploma in Project Management (2024). She applies both administrative and management theory and practice to deliver in her professional field. She uses her skills to independently develop and oversee research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records at NeTroDisOH in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Lydia works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Completes and approves transactions for signature by the Principal Investigator or another authorized institutional official. She provides guidance for less experienced staff. Lydia provides analytical and financial support in proposal processing, contract and grant administration, and budget development, including pre-award proposal initiatives, management of funds post-award, and closeout activities for sponsors.
Research Focus
Being a social scientist in the NTD research space, Lydia focuses on the rich socio-economic context of diseases which is largely excluded in NTD research. Her particular interest is research on knowledge, attitudes, practices with regards to NTDs as well as socio-economic cost of infections and cost implications for their control.
Future Aspirations
Lydia envisages bringing her varied administrative and managerial expertise to develop NeTroDisOH into a world-class research laboratory. She aims to coordinate the training, and advocacy drive whilst contributing to research on the socio-economic context of NTDs at the consortium to ensure that our mission is achieved.
