Edwina Twum Blay
Background:
Edwina Twum Blay is a dedicated Research Assistant at the Consortium for Neglected Tropical Diseases and One Health (NeTroDisOH), affiliated with the University of Energy and Natural Resources, under the Department of Biological Sciences – Ghana. She also serves as the Administrative Secretary. With a background in Biological Sciences and currently pursuing her MPhil in Parasitology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Edwina is deeply committed to combating NTDs by promoting One Health approaches.
Her research interests lie in discovering novel enzymes in parasites that can be targeted for the development of new or repurposed drugs against these parasites. Edwina's academic pursuits reflect her passion for scientific discovery and her desire to contribute meaningfully to the field of parasitology.
Future Aspirations:
Edwina aspires to become a leader in her field, influencing research agenda, publishing impactful papers to influence policy-making and implementation, contributing to research projects, and participating in conferences to learn and share knowledge. Her overarching motivation is to make the world a better place for all by combating NTDs and ending the neglect of marginalized communities. Edwina sees her research and contributions to the NeTroDisOH consortium as her way of giving back to the community and contributing to global health initiatives.
